but none as to the facilities at Caldy. No doubt the committee have proactively acquired significant quantities of Pot Noodles!! On a more serious note, I am presuming they will stay semi-pro and that their first season will be a steep learning curve. Will they lean on the Sharks or RGC for players? However, there is the possibility that the Championship will move to a 14 team league so they may well have a seasons grace to adapt to the new level.. something they did with ease moving from Nat2 to Champions of Nat1!! Just be ready for Big Eddie one of the most erudite and amusing posters on Rolling Maul. Thank you Runitback...... for the congratulations for Caldy and for what I will take as a personal compliment. I like 'erudite and amusing' and I will be very proudly showing this to my wife. I doubt it will dissuade her from using the normal description she favours me with.................... a pity because 'erudite and amusing' is so much better than "Kno**ead" ''The future isn't what it used to be'' Posted: 26 Apr 2022 at 12:05 Runitback wrote:On a more serious note, I am presuming they will stay semi-pro and that their first season will be a steep learning curve.
I would imagine also that London Scottish, under their new arrangement with Harlequins, wouldn't be able to field a side. The other suggestion was that it would include the top University teams but when would they be available to play? I think the drawing board is being dusted down again, as we type. I believe that it was a concept that would have got stronger year on year and I think the majority of the fans enjoyed the chance to see teams from the other home unions. Unfortunately it was never fully funded and again the RFU failed to work with the other unions to find suitable sponsors not to mention the lack of media coverage. The idea of the premiership A teams playing against championship clubs is already a non starter and the current lash up is not fit for purpose.

My understanding was that these two young players would spend the season at Caldy. After the first game Sale Sharks decided to pull them from Caldy and send them to RGC. One asked Sharks to let him stay at Caldy and he played all season with Caldy. The Caldy model has worked well for Caldy and I hope it doesn't change.
